Q1: Cherie Blogs
We're finally in Italy!!! It's like AM right now and I (being Cherie) just came back from a club so I'm pretty drunk still so there may be typos. WHAT A CRAZY 12 hours!!! So....
To begin: Haesu and I are totally nerds and really stand out. Haesu is dressed in baby blue and her luggage and blue and COINCIDENTALLY I'm wearing a fuschia shirt with fuschia coloured luggage. So we're pretty tourists.
Connecting Flight: Crazy Haesu, being the Korean she is, has jars of korean food stashed in every corner of her luggage. So we get stopped at Frankfurt airport because of her massive jars of grandma made korean food. We're food terrorists!!!!! This made us somewhat late. so we decided to RUN.. we ran and ran and ran and Frankfurt is HUGEE. But we found out that I had set my clock ahead of time by like 10 minutes so we were really really early. We were so exhausted from the sprint across the massive Frankfurt airport that we didn't even realize that we were in line for a flight to PARIS... that was a shocker!! Luckily being hte genius schulich students that we were, we realized MILANO was right next to it. so All good.
OK now on to Haesu: for the second half of our night
Q2: Haesu blogs
So before I begin writing this, I ask Cherie: what does Q1, Q2 mean.. and she's like quarter...? I'm not too sure. She's a bit drunk. hehe what a cute drunk.
SO. We were very lucky to have our friend, Giulia, offer us to stay at her place until we can move into our apartment. She was an exchange student at Schulich for the Fall semester 2007, who Cherie was the OAC buddy for. She is an Economics student at Bocconi, who is a real estate agent AND a tour guide by night... aka, she's SUCH A GOOD HOST! And she helped us find a place which is soooo nice of her.
After being fed by Giulia, Cherie and I had a HUGE nap... Getting proper rest after a lengthy trip is a must, and we felt so much better after napping for about good 4 hours. After our nap, Giulia took us to our first ever Apervito - an outting at a bar/pub that lets us pay only for the drink (non-alcoholic or alcoholic) for 8 euros and lets us have unlimited buffet style food!
After dinner, we headed to a club called Old Fashion. Cover was 15 euros, but this included a drink ticket. The drinks are much bigger than Toronto, AND they have 2 shots not just one.
Random observations for the Day:
- Italian residential bathrooms allow you to manually flush for as long as you want!
- Italian bar restrooms use a foot pedal to flush the toilets and operate sinks... weird
- Italian streets are cleaned at night
-Italian men are really tall.... many of which have plucked eyebrows. 80% are attractive 100% are better than Canadians (except for Alex S2)
- Italians wear shoes indoors
- Purple is "THE COLOUR of the Year" - Giulia. "Green was the colour of 2007" - Giulia.. again! :)
- If you're lucky, you can get hit on by Italian soccer players at the club... ;) But, we were not so lucky tonite..:( If you're unlucky, you get hit on by a short Italian guy named Fabio. lol
- The taxi driver does not like talking to foreigners. Don't bother him.
- Italian breads are smaller than Canadian breads - portions here are generally smaller than North America!
We're going to go to bed now!!
Pictures to come shortly so please keep checking the blog of LeeLui :)
Cherie says I'm cheesy but WHATEVER :)
